Köln Bonn Airport
A Progressive Web App in Corporate Design
Köln Bonn Airport is one of the leaders in the low-cost segment. In total, more than 14,000 people work for the company in over 115 agencies.
The Challenge
For Köln Bonn Airport, we were asked to design a Progressive Web App (PWA) that would convince with its typical functionalities, such as offline storage of content and push notifications for the flight plan. Progressive Web Apps run via a browser and combine the advantages of a classic website with the functionalities of a native app.
Our Approach & Solution
Our prototype PWA is based on the original homepage of the Cologne Bonn Airport website. On the homepage, you can find an area with departure and arrival. In this area, a button has been added, with which you can switch notifications for the respective flight on and off. If the function is active, the user always gets a push notification when the status of his flight changes. In addition, offline storage has been implemented, so that the Web App is also available if the server that delivers the website has already been shut down again.
